Why a Sunflower?
The Story of How the Sunflower became a Symbol of Hope is Rising

It all started with a book study Stephanie and I were doing together. As part of our study, Stephanie encouraged me to start journaling again. I thought about it for a while and slowly, I started to write about the huge impact our study had on me. It was important to document the struggles I was experiencing, but it was just as important to document the work the Lord was doing in me.
During this time period, Stephanie and I had an opportunity to get away for a few days. A “girls off the grid” trip, you might say. I wanted to give Stephanie a gift while we were on our trip, but the finances were tight in our household. God knew my heart and gave me the perfect gift for her on August 20, 2024, as He was planting the seeds of Hope is Rising in both of our hearts.
Drawing is completely out of the norm for me, especially when I am journaling. My journaling usually consists of just words and maybe a few shorthand shapes, but the Lord gave me a picture to draw out that day. With my less than artistic hand, I drew out the picture God gave me. His picture was my gift to Stephanie! This picture eventually became the logo for Hope is Rising!
Sunflowers are a representation of growth. Sunflowers are known for their ability to grow tall and strong, even in adverse conditions, which makes them a powerful symbol of resilience and perseverance. These flowers symbolize Unwavering Faith, Unconditional Love, and Loyalty. Sunflowers Radiate Pure Joy and Hope!
The sunflowers’ representations and symbolic meanings are foundational parts of Hope is Rising. These flowers are sweet reminders of all we have available through Christ.
